Fall Fridays | Almost Christmas.

Isn't this arrangement gorgeous? Style Me Pretty shared a video on how to make it yesterday.

Well this weekend is really the last one before the holiday craziness really kicks in, isn't it? Will be taking advantage with projects and sleep and more present hunting. Anyone seeing Catching Fire? I'm not super intense about Hunger Games, but this was my favorite of the trilogy, so I'm trying to squeeze it in on Sunday.

Fall Fridays | NYFW.

I have lots of random things to say today:

Happy Friday the 13th! Spooooky!
Happy First Fall Friday of 2013 as well!
The World of Harry Potter is still expanding!!!! I am beyond excited, obviously. Just do a search for "Harry Potter" on this blog to understand why :)
We're in Chicago this weekend (yay!) and I have lots of good stuff planned, most importantly our engagement pictures on Sunday (whoop!). Fingers crossed the 30% chance of rain goes completely away.
Have you been enjoying New York Fashion Week from the comfort of your computer screens like I have?! While I have liked a lot of the designs, I haven't loved anything the way I normally do. But Fashion Week is likely the reason I came across the top image here this week though, from Christian Dior's 1949 Haute Couture collection (see it in glorious action here and here). That petal skirt, ugh, I want. And I was immediately struck by how much it reminded me of Glinda's bubble dress from Wicked. No way that was a coincidence, right? Love how 50-year-old fashion can inform today.

hope you all had wonderful thanksgivings yesterday! it's now time to drag out the twinkling lights! tonight is also my 10-year high school reunion. yes, that is happening. and then saturday my boys in blue & gold take on USC for the right to go to the national championship. and yes, i am freaking out about this!!

fall for fridays: getaway.

well friends, another work week almost in the books. i'm unfortunately under the weather at the moment. particularly frustrating because i have a lot of fun planned for this weekend, starting with seeing louis ck, my absolute favorite comedian, live for the first time tonight with c. then it's off to the western side of michigan for an overnight girls' getaway with a few friends from law school. by the way, can you even believe thanksgiving is less than a week away?!

fall for fridays: calm.

i'm really appreciating how quiet last weekend was and this weekend is shaping up to be. allows for lots of sleep, long runs, and fully enjoying being cozy on the couch, watching football or the backlog on the dvr. the calm before the holiday storm. have you started your christmas shopping yet? i've picked up a few things here and there, but know i need to start being more proactive.

fall for fridays: it's november.

the rumors are true: it is somehow november. packing up the costumes, bats and skeletons this weekend. but i need a few more weeks of colored leaves and gourds before i'm ready to fully commit to the holiday spirit. no red cups til thanksgiving (ok, not the most compelling battle cry, i realize)! looking forward to lots of catching-up-on-sleep this weekend, as well as the longest run i've ever done (7 miles on sat to keep on my 1/2 marathon schedule, yikes!).

well we're off tonight for salem to join the witches and warlocks in their all hallow's eve celebrations. my sister and her husband are joining us as well, so they'll get to meet c's brothers for the first time :) will you be dressing up this weekend?!

fall for fridays: golden pumpkins.

aren't these spectacular?! the pumpkins we picked at the end of september are still waiting to be carved, poor things! i feel like october is slipping through my fingers as i desperately try to hold onto it. we haven't even watched beetlejuice yet (which is now very special to us cause this). should be able to spend lots of time on halloween things and movies this weekend, finalizing costumes before we head to salem next weekend to celebrate. also squeezing in a trip to the joffrey ballet's fall program and a very cool and whimsical dining experience i'll be sure to share with you all.

fall for fridays: up north.

C and I are heading north to Michigan this weekend for some time at The Yellow House with my family. Although it's supposed to rain both days, the colors will still be gorgeous. And we are both itching for a full weekend out of the city. I need a 2-day break from traffic and crowds and elevators and people sneezing and/or coughing on me on public transportation bad.

fall for fridays: revisited.

Every Friday last fall, I shared some favorite images of the season. Since it's hard to resist pictures of falling leaves and apple cider, I'm resurrecting the series now, while still keeping the free for fall feel, because I like checking in with you guys at the end of the week.

The first weekend of October promises to be both busy and fun. A friend's birthday on Friday. Other friends in town for the ND v. Miami game at Soldier Field on Saturday night. And another friend is running her first marathon here in Chicago on Sunday, so I will be cheering her on when she passes by my building earlier in the race, and then jumping in with her for a few miles around the 16 mile mark, followed by a party to celebrate her accomplishment. Phew! Can't wait. What are you up to?
