Valentino for NYC Ballet.

from time to time i get extremely envious of those living in new york city for one main reason: they get to see the coolest collaborations and once-in-a-lifetime opportunities, ones that don't ever seem to make it off the east coast, to my repeated dismay.  case in point: valentino designing new york city ballet's fall gala costumes.  i mean, come on.

"I would say, 'Wow, what is that going to look like with pointe shoes?' And he would say, 'It will look fantastic.'"
- Peter Martins, New York City Ballet's Ballet Master-in-Chief, on Valentino, a personal friend of 30 years

p.s. after i wrote this post, i realized it sounded strange or uncaring to say I envy NYC in the midst of the east coast's recovery from Sandy.  please know I meant nothing of the sort.  my heart goes out to all who have suffered loss; best wishes to you all xo.

  2. Come. On. "It will look fantastic." Oh, Valentino, you smart man.
P.S. I didn't read it that way at all, I think it's nice to show an upbeat side of the city as well. You're too kind of a person for me to ever assume you meant anything less than positive!
