the emmys: red carpet 2011.

i'm going to stream-line this puppy a little bit this year.  the trouble is, i didn't think there were a lot of stand-outs in either best or worst dressed at this year's emmys.  i'm also feeling a little generous after kyle chandler's surprise win for the final season of friday night lights (i might have yelped, and then burst into tears, when his name was called.  coach taylor just does that to a girl.), so let's just go through some of my favorites of the night this year...

{cat deeley in monique lhuillier}
i have a major girl crush on this lady.  and she did not disappoint.  she's glowing.

 {christine baranski}
i just started watching the good wife, so maybe i'm a little biased.
but i just think she looks fab.  p.s. it's navy blue, not black - bonus point!

 {connie britton}
my girl tami taylor is on fire!  i would have sewn up that slit a little,
but overall, she's fierce, y'all!

 {emily blunt in elie saab}
i pretty much love anyone dressed in elie saab.  there i said it.

 {evan rachel wood in elie saab}
what'd i tell ya?!  evan is a fashionista with or without elie.  she wears clothes so well.

 {kerry washington in zuhair murad}
one of the best in the sea of red on this year's carpet.

 {minka kelly in dior}
 she could pretty much wear anything and be this stunning.

 {martha plimpton in zac posen}
i couldn't take my eyes off her gown when she got up for the "beauty pageant."
and that's saying something - rob lowe was on stage!

{lena headey}
 feel free to disagree with me on this one, i know there's a hint of the crucible
in this look, but just look again.  and once more for good measure.  she's striking.
throw away that bible-esque clutch for a bright color and wow.

 {nina dobrev in donna karan}
she wins the red dress award in my book.  that dress is made for her.

alright fine, a quick list of the least favorites.  numero uno: gwyneth (how did she find a dress that makes her stomach look like it's bulging over?!  also, it's not the late 90s - no bare midriffs please), olivia munn (too tight and lumpy, which is weird, cause she has a great body?!), paz de le huerta (shocking), heidi klum (cancan girl), julie bowen (too skinny; too much skin), katie holmes (too casual).

and that wraps it up for me this year!  so what are your thoughts?!

  6. I hadn't seen a picture of Cat's dress yet! She looks beautiful! and totatlly agree with you on the worst dressed. My favorite of the night was Kate Winslet. Her red dress was just perfect for her, and not too frilly.
