summer fridays: cocktails.

welcome back to my new series summer fridays, where we discuss some favorite things about summertime.  do you guys get summer fridays?  you know, half-days or full days off during the summer months?  wellll i don't.  i try not to be too bitter about it though!

i LOVE trying new summery drinks.  my family is great about testing new twists on the classics (think mojitos, sangria) and never varies our now-perfected secret-family-recipe for margaritas (maybe i'll have to share later in the summer?!  hmmm), but sometimes we like to go someplace totally new.  last year was all about the pimm's cup.  this year...who knows?

but i do know i need to try this black & blue mojito asap, found via jill of the good life for less!

2 oz 10 cane rum

1 oz lime juice

1 oz simple syrup

3 blackberries

10 blueberries

pinch of mint

splash of soda water

muddle the berries and mint with the lime juice and simple syrup.  

add the rum.  top with crushed ice.  add a splash of soda water and stir.  

garnish with mint sprig and additional berries.
