red carpet: sag awards

the actual sag awards are really not very fun at all.  they are clearly designed more for the acting community than for the viewers at home.  which is fine.  but that didn't stop me from tuning into the red carpet coverage!

i was incredibly pleased with what i saw - i have way more in the "best" category than in the "worst," and most of the worst aren't really so bad at all, just a thing here or there to nitpick!  this result got me extremely excited for the oscars at the end of february!

so i'll use the term "worst" loosely here

 {angie harmon in monique lhuillier}
way too much dress for this event.  should be reserved for the oscars.  period.  plus?
she's beautiful but i'm thinking she's a little old for the soft pink and all those feathers!

 {christina hendricks in l'wren scott}
this does not flatter her.  it leaves her with incredibly broad shoulders and she looks
uncomfortable.  or maybe it just leaves me feeling uncomfortable?!

 {claire danes in louis vuitton}
this is not a terrible dress.  in fact, i've seen it in a lot of people's "best" categories, but it's such
a let down from her emmy and golden globe choices, and the pattern's not quite doing it for me.

 {eva langoria in georges hobeika}
ick.  one of my least favorites.  it's not that it's too much skin, it's that the top is just plain ugly.

 {hailee steinfeld in prada}
bold, for sure, and it actually looks good on her, but it's still an ugly dress.

 {jane lynch in ali rahimi}
 fabric problem - why does it look like a bad prom dress?

 {jennifer lawrence in oscar de la renta}
i actually like the bold pink, but the black accents didn't work, making the end result = trashy

 {melissa leo in randi rahm}
this is actually a very cool dress.  it just doesn't fit her properly - too tight around the tummy!

{nicole kidman in nina ricci}
a little bit of a hot mess.  that necklace on top makes absolutely no sense.
the hair seriously needs a comb.

and on to the best!

 {annette bening in tony ward couture}
her red carpet style is usually a "meh," but well done here!  lovely dress.

 {hillary swank in versace}
there's nothing new about the style of this dress, but she wears it effortlessly
and seems to be glowing.

{heather morrison in romona keveza resort 2010}
she looks divine.  completely gorgeous.

 {jane krakowski in badgley mischka}
now this is how you rock a baby bump!

 {january jones in carolina herrera}
betty draper francis got it RIGHT?!  a miracle.  applause is required.
she looks glamorous as hell.

{jayma mays in jenny packham}
when did she get so skinny?!  she needs to eat, badly.  her head looks too big on her body.
that aside, her hair is beautiful and the dress is just perfect.

 {julie bowen in malandrino}
rocking the pants on the red carpet and totally pulling it off!  love it.  gumption.

 {kyra sedgwick in vintage thierry mugler}
 yes, this is a simple black dress.  but look at her - she is stunning!

 {lea michele in oscar de la renta}
this is one spectacular dress.  it fits her beautifully.

{mila kunis in alexander mcqueen}
she is smoking.  gorgeous head to toe.

 {natalie portman in azzaro}
now THAT'S how you're supposed to look, pretty ballerina!  baby bump beautiful!

 {rosario dawson in j.mendel}
i adore this dress and her easy-going look.  the only slight issue i have (hint: not a real issue!)
is that she looks the picture of summer...and it is most definitely winter around here!

 {sofia vergara in roberto cavalli}
a va-va-voom woman wearing a va-va-voom dress!

{tina fey in oscar de la renta}
hair and makeup = fabulous.  dress = flattering and a beautiful color with her skin tone!

i actually had an incredibly hard time picking a favorite this time around.  so i've decided on a 3-way tie: heather morrison, lea michele, and [gasp!] january jones!   how about you?!

  4. I really like Julie Bowan too ! she looked great. I thought natalie looked absolutely gorgeous. Kyra might have been my best IF she had her hair up. Lea Michele ALWAYS ALWAYS looks beautiful. But my fav. is def Heather Morrison.
