grateful: week 16

inspired by my reading of the happiness project by gretchen rubin, i am instituting monday "gratitude" posts (read here for more detail), where i will list "3 things i'm grateful for" from the previous week.

the 3 things i'm grateful for this week are:

1) i finally got to see inception and amazingly it didn't get spoiled on me beforehand (p.s. go see this movie!  SO good)

2) i made it through week 1 of my self-imposed august clothes shopping hiatus.  going a week isn't really a difficult thing for me, but factor in all the sales to clear out summer stuff plus the current 10-day sales tax holiday on clothes in illinois?  just a tad trickier!

3) i was in chicago for the whole weekend (for the first time since the end of june!).  got to spend some time with good friends, and boy, did i need a little time at home to just be.
sunday afternoon, legs up on the ottoman, listening to music, sipping coffee, and doing a little bit of work.

here's to another grateful week.

  1. I, too, am giving up shopping for August! Weird. It's pretty total ban, too--not only no buying things, but no going into stores and no browsing online. And I'm not allowed to funnel my shopping tendencies into books, movies, or cosmetics, either. I'm pretty proud of myself for being a week into it, but I'm worried about the next three weeks. I feel like August is actually a pretty decent month to do it--while summer stuff is on sale, it's been on sale for a while and is probably pretty picked over. Fall stuff is coming out...but if I wait, I can get it on sale and not pay full price. At least, this is what I'm telling myself. Good luck to you--believe me, I know how hard this is.

  3. Look at you all comfy in your chair and ottoman! I really want to go see inception too and I should probably institute a shopping band for oh, the next three months or so...
