holiday guide: hostess gifts

leading up to that most special of days - christmas, of course! - i thought i'd share ideas i find for gifts, wrapping, decorations, and all of the little details involved in making a wonderful holiday season.

i think the key with hostess gifts is to keep it simple and keep things on hand for last-minute holiday parties and gatherings.  you also want to make sure that you're not giving something that will likely end up in your hostess's charity pile.  make sure they can use it!

{clockwise from top left}
silver branch ornaments from crate & barrel ($5 for 2)
the basics candle from one sydney road ($25)
winter texture platters from west elm ($19-49)
hanging mason jar (fill with anything!) from pottery barn ($7.50)

{clockwise from top left}
be merry tea towel from one sydney road ($16)
mini cashmere hand warmers from restoration hardware ($15)
2011 wall calendar from kate spade ($18)
amaryllis bulb from crate & barrel ($15)

of course, homemade baked goods with some simple holiday wrapping are a great go-to.

and a bottle of booze or wine is extremely easy,  but wouldn't it be that much more special if you dressed it up with this little diy-project?!

oh so clever!    do you have a perfect hostess gift go-to?!

  4. haha julie, i agree, it's a beautiful sweater! maybe it didn't fit right anymore...

    but glad you all like the ideas! it's fun to put a little thought into them, so long as that doesn't mean you're running around at the last minute for something :)

    Also loving the mason jar idea, that could be DIY, hmmmm....
    We usually go for wine or if I have time a small potted pepper plant - they're just cheery :)
