pie is my absolute favorite type of dessert. it's practically perfect in every way, especially in the summer months when the fruit is, well, just right.
and pie shops? are just divine. luckily, i've stumbled on a couple of excellent ones.
in chicago, we have:
they have their own quaint little shop in the ukrainian village, but i usually snatch them up at the green city market in lincoln park.
and back in my home state of michigan, we have:

sadly, my most favorite pie shop of all is imaginary. that would be the one from my all-time-favorite-and-devastatingly-canceled-after-only-two-seasons-tv-show pushing daisies. i told you i'd eventually get back to this perfect little show! the tagline sums it up pretty well: "a touch of romance. a touch of mystery. a touch of magic." and it all centers around pie maker ned, who can bring the dead back to life - but only for a minute. the fair pie maker bakes his pies in:
don't you just want to have a slice of pie in here with them?! if only it was real...

I agree I love that show. I also love pie. Love love the the 4 berry pie my mom always gets a Kroger. Wonder if we have pies here? I will investigate!

ReplyDeleteAnd I just made an amaaaazing blackberry pie. The secret was dressing the fresh blackberries in a couple tablespoons of lemon juice and freshly ground nutmeg!
