always room for jell-o.

i have been antsy for the weekend since the moment my alarm went off on monday morning.  i was just over this week before it even started (and i swear that has nothing to do with my mom being in town - love you, ma!).

so as i continue to work much too hard to keep myself checked-in to the rest of the week, i think it's time to post something a little more... fun.  get excited, because i am about to divulge my (and my college roommates') super-duper-secret JELLO SHOT RECIPE!!!  that's more fun than 2 more work days, right?

we perfected this recipe over 4 years of college and various combinations of vodka and water.  and that's the key, you have to get it just right and i think we finally did (and i'm clearly not biased).

ingredients:  jell-o, vodka, cups, water

i usually choose the flavor based on the event for which i'm making them.
(i.e. red and blue for the 4th of july)

in goes the mix

the instructions will tell you that you need a certain amount of hot water and a certain amount of cold.
now this is important: put in ALL of the boiling water it tells you to
(so the mix will fully dissolve).
then for the cold water, put in 3 parts vodka and one part cold water.
(so if the box says 1 cup cold water = 3/4 cup vodka, 1/4 cup cold water)
then mix as directed.

stirring and stirring and stirring

helpful hint: use a turkey-baster to fill up the cups.  and fill about half-way.

and in they go.

last tip: if you use paper cups like these here, you might want to double up, they tend to leak.
i also like to use these.  but i can't always find them.

joey: "there's always room for jello."
rachel: "how do you make even that sound dirty?"

p.s. are you enjoying that the first recipe i posted on this blog is for an alcoholic beverage?!  oops.

*all images from my personal collection.  and please excuse the poor point-and-shoot quality!
